Loveless Prayers

Like a weathered headstone

You've had your last say

Made the shape of a curse in the air

And went on your way

We used to fist fight with fate

But that old boy, he’s a devious case

And he’ll fool you in

To doing things his way

Now all you send

Are loveless prayers

To a God that you fear is dead

But you ain’t alone

The cosmos will cradle you

And I will listen to every single one of them

Your loveless prayers

It was the temper of the times

To set your heart to roam

So like a modern day Moses

You etched your truth into stone

Never to revise

Never to reveal

Those secrets I used to help you keep

That have bent you to their will
